Kundalini yoga teacher Kathryn McCusker (www.kmyoga.com) offers some tips for Spring wellbeing, yoga style.
As we emerge after a long, cold Winter, it's at last time for body and soul to re-energise and rejuvenate.

Kundalini yoga and Meditation provide wonderfully effective tools to energise and strengthen the nervous and glandular systems as well as restoring inner balance and calm.
Spring is also a time to create new projects and birth new ideas, so to help crystallize these I have added a meditation that helps to create abundance.
GREEN YOGIC DIET: Try a rebuilding diet. It will alkalinize the body, help you lose weight and clear the skin. This diet als cleanses the liver and relieves toxic mucus conditions.
The diet simply consists of 40 days of green food: salads, steamed greens, avocados, sprouts, mung beans and Yogi Tea. To end the diet, add fruit, then grains. Finally, begin to add dairy products if you normally eat them (goat's milk is more digestible than cow's milk).
FROG POSE: Place the toes on the ground, heels together off the ground, fingers on the ground between the knees and lift the head up. Inhale, raise the buttocks high. Lower the forehead toward the knees and keep the heels off the ground. Exhale, come back to the original squatting position, face forward. Continue this with deep breaths 26 times. (This posture helps to release toxins, increases circulation, gives your skin a healthy radiance and energises you)
SITALI PRANAYAM: sitali breath has a cleansing and relaxing effect on the body whilst maintaining alertness. Sitting in easy pose. Curl the tongue into a U shape. Inhale through the curled tongue. Exhale through the nose.
MEDTATION TO CREATE ABUNDANCE: please note: you will need an Orange for this one!
Center yourself with 3 deep inhalations and exhalations. Sit in easy pose or in a chair with a straight spine, feet flat on the floor and with a light neck lock (Jalandhar Bandh). In part one, look at the 3rd eye point. In part two, look at the tip of the nose.
PART 1: Make a fist of the left hand with the thumb holding down the fingers. Wrap the right hand around the fist and place this mudra 608 inches in front of the heart center with the palms facing down.Breathe as long and deep as possible. Continue for 17 minutes.
PART 2: Now, hold the orange in the left hand with the right hand over it and the plams facing down 6-8 inches in front of the heart center. Hold the orange as a symbol of prosperity and abundance (remember to focus at the tip of the nose!) Breathe long and deep. Continue for seven minutes.
PART 3: Peel the orange and eat it slowly and carefully, tasting the essence of prosperity as you chew. Feel yourself holding your abundance and to know what you have. Sometimes we do not have the power to concentrate and we miss the opportunity to take stock and appreciate what we have.
