I have been suffering with back pain for years now .. a freind has recommended that I try yoga. Could this help me ... which particular asanas are good ?

Yes yoga can help with back pain, but obviously it depends on many things: your earnestness and the source of the pain being just 2 of them. Until u find a good class (might take some time) i recommend getting a book called 'Asana Pranayama Mudra Bandha', and working through it from the beginning, slowly and intelligently. Don't be put off by the title - it's very simple to read and incredibly informative. It will help. Good luck
