Peter Mandelson heats up with Bikram

Friday 15 June, 2007

He may not be an obvious yoga man, but it would appear that former UK government minister, Peter Mandelson has been bitten by the bug. Mandelson has taken to unwinding twice a week in hour-long Bikram sessions.

"I was getting bored of the gym, and yoga is one of the best ways of putting you beyond the reach of distractions for an hour", Mandelson told The Telegraph.

Interestingly, Mandelson also raved about the emotional benefits of his Bikram workouts in Brussels: "It teaches you to be more open and this is something I've taken to heart", he says.

Bikram yoga involves a series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises, done in a room heated to 105 degrees and 40% humidity.
