Commit June to charity

Monday 7 June, 2010

Setting a goal, or sankalpa (intention), is easy; following it through is far, far harder.

So the idea of setting a challenge for yourself, that others support by giving a small donation, seems pretty sensible to me. Twin this with the donation going to charity, and it's difficult to see what there is to lose.

American not-for-profit organisation Karma Krew has designated June 2010 as a nation-wide Yogathon: yoga practitioners across the country (and world) challenge themselves to practice as much yoga as they can.

Friends and family are then invited to support the effort by pleding a small amount for each class taken. The funds raised will be used to bring yoga programs into under-served populations.

Some of the groups standing to benefit are the homeless, victims of domestic violence, prision inmates, and abused children.

What a fabulous concept, and one that could be replicated in the UK. To get involved, or to read more, click here.

Yoga Bites

How we view the world is largely a result of past experience and conditioning.
